The Parish Council
 The Parish Council is elected every four years. Subject to straightforward criteria, any local person may offer themselves for election to Council and to represent Elswick's residents.
The Parish Council is empowered to levy a precept for
local services and facilities. It is also empowered to make representations and decisions on behalf of the community.
The Council comprises an appointed clerk who administers its affairs, together with seven elected Councillors who choose their own Chairman and Vice Chairman to control meetings.
